Abortion Story #287: “I began to hear my own voice again.”

Roar will publish a first-person story about abortion, “My Abortion: A Daily Story,” every day for at least 365 days. Below is an excerpt of Caitlin’s experience. Despite wanting to become a parent one day, she made a decision to obtain an abortion while leaving an abusive partner. “I had an abortion in the middle of a bad breakup. I’d been with my fiancé for 5 years, engaged for 4, and miserable for at least 3. He was emotionally manipulative and had a serious temper. The relationship took everything out of me, I felt like a shell of myself. After years of struggling I finally got up the nerve to leave. The day before I planned to move I realized I was late. I took a pregnancy test just in case and it was positive…”
