She shares her experience making a decision, and traveling from Florida to New York, to end a wanted pregnancy at 22 weeks. “…A little over a year ago, my husband, Randy and I were all smiles as the nurse in the perinatologist’s office called my name and then ushered us into an exam room. We were there for an anatomy ultrasound. I was 21 weeks pregnant. I already knew I was having a little girl. We were throwing around names like Madison and Lexi.
For so many, the ultrasound between 20 and 21 weeks is magical. This is the one. The scan where the abstract images on the little screen stop looking like a blob or a tadpole with limbs and start looking like a baby. This is the moment when you can see a spine, fingers, toes and facial features. This is the ultrasound photo that makes it to people’s Facebook feeds….”
