The following is the opening excerpt of Alexis’ story about ending a wanted pregnancy. She opens up about not regretting her decision about abortion, despite it being a painful one for her to make. Note: The US House of Representatives recently passed HR 36, a bill to ban abortion after 20 weeks’ gestation and criminalize abortion providers. It would deny women like Alexis and others in need of care later in pregnancy the ability to make these deeply personal decisions. “I had an abortion when I was 20 weeks and three days pregnant. I was 32 years old, and was absolutely madly in love with my baby. I had a very healthy pregnancy, had eaten well, and tried to exercise. I had an adorable baby bump, and had even started to feel my baby kick.
