Another Way of Looking at the Gender and Racial Pay Gap

The Roar Meter is a weekly story in numbers.

When the pay gap between men and women is discussed, it is always in the context of the average (white) man being paid $1, with women being paid less. Let’s flip that, and start with the lowest paid group—Latina women—at $1.

Latina Women: $1.00

Black Women: $1.12

Latino Men: $1.19

Black Men: $1.26

White Women: $1.42

Asian Women: $1.50

White Men: $1.73

Asian Men: $2.02
